blue train

was planning on a billie holiday painting next, but have been listening to a lot of saint john coltrane, so have decided to capitalize on that.
I hope Billie doesn't feel mistreated, I guess men were always treating her shabbily.

  1. For the record, the shading on the face is incredible. The way you have the light source as if it is a spotlight so the lower part of his face and chin/neck are shaded is amazing. Thanks for sharing. My favorite painting of the series to date.

  2. Here's my critique:

    That is all.

  3. No critique for me. Name three fav Coltrane joints (for today). Mine are Naima, Everytime We Say Goodbye and Dear Old Stockholm.

  4. beautiful work as always. Can't wait for Billie!

  5. love your work. got interested because of your work for the adds for c last summer.
since i have studied painting at the academy of fine arts in karlsruhe and was doing paper cuts inspired by swoon since i graduated from there, i now got inspired by your work and will go back to watercolors and will try it with fotografs of people.
