i'm having a blast illustrating a kid's book called "Tyger lilly", written by good friend Lisa Trusiani. It's absolutely the most beautifully written children's book I've read in a long, long time.
it's 'young adult', mostly text with a full page illustration here and there. I can't tell you how incredible the story is, I was stunned when I first read it.
thanks, all. Joe, it's traditional watercolor, like the Negro League portraits. I guess there's something to be said about having a 'favorite medium', huh?
Wonderful, can't wait to pick it up...one of my favorite things about being a dad is now I can grow my huge reference library in the childrens illustraton department.
The last kid's book that affected me was someday, the writing, layout illustration and hand lettering just made it hit you. There's something to be said about the people making those words and pictures caring about things.
So glad that you can keep your hands in illustration, and that you've got this venue to let us know what you are drawing!
You've got me excited! Is the book intended for a specific age group?
